Well, the worst thing happened to me was meeting this guy at an institute dance. At first he was somewhat entertaining. When he thought I was an easy target for laughs, the jokes wouldn’t stop….they kept going and going. They weren’t funny anymore, in fact I couldn’t even force myself to laugh at them. It was a nightmare. I started making up excuses for him or I to “move on”, but I couldn’t shake him. I then told him I needed to be excused because I needed to go to the “lady’s room”. I thought that perhaps he would find someone else to dance with after I left and I could come back in and dance with other people. Problem solved. Nope. When I stepped out of the bathroom, he was waiting for me outside the door. Totally followed me there without me knowing. The “creep factor” hit a 10+ at that point. He followed me back into the gym and I told him that I needed to find my friend I came with. Somehow I managed to get away from him and her and I crawled through the gym and into the kitchen and out the back door. I am not kidding when I said we crawled. Thought I was rid of him forever. Nope, he moved into the same ward my husband and I live in 5 years ago. Still not comfortable with the situation. Still extremely awkward. Especially since he remembers me. Uggghhh!
There was this one time that I had to introduce myself in the priesthood meeting and so I had my friend stand with me lol!
The first time I went to institute with my friends after graduating, we were talking in the cultural hall and having refreshments. There were 3 of us, all short, cute, blonde 17-18 year olds and suddenly this guy came up to us. He didn’t look us in the eye but he talked to us for 10 minutes straight about Doctor Who while we could barely get a word in edgewise. He had a TARDIS in his bag. I don’t know if that was his idea of flirting but it definitely wasn’t effective.
The first time I went to an Institute dance after my divorce, a guy approached me, looked me up and down and said with an acquisitional gleam in his eye, “Ah, fresh meat!” How does one respond to such a thing?
I seriously love these
